- Care at Scale cardus.ca
Our social relationships with each other—our culture, our learning, our art, our shared jokes and shared sorrow, raising our children, attending to our elderly, and together dreaming of our future—these are the essence of what it means to be human. We thrive as individuals and communities by caring for others, and being taken care of in turn. Collective infrastructural systems that are resilient, sustainable, and globally equitable provide the means for us to care for each other at scale. They are a commitment to our shared humanity.
- Brands Want You to Go Steady, Not Play the Field bloomberg.com
Brandlonging rests on a delicate fulcrum: the extent to which consumers are prepared to sign up to regular payments (and sign away their data) in return for convenience, discounts, exclusivity and the lure of belonging.
- Work Is Work codahale.com
At some point in time, every organization realizes that it’s slowing down. Features take longer to ship, folks spend more and more time in meetings, and everyone gets panicky about estimation and planning. If we’ve internalized essentialist bullshit about “B players hiring C players”, maybe we get nervous about The Bar and hiring. If we’re anxious and uncertain, we might get religion about Agile or Scrum or whatever. If we’re prone to modernist flights of fancy, we might decide to spend our innovation tokens trying to disrupt the 200,000 year old industry of getting humans to work together. If we’re the type to do our eight and hit the gate, we chalk it up as the price of success.
These approaches rarely yield results.

- Microsoft Teams Platform developer documentation - Teams | Microsoft Docs docs.microsoft.com
So it works out that, yet again, the ecosystem is ready for some pretty big changes to happen to CSS. The engineers at Chrome and across the web platform are prototyping, speccing, and starting the implementation for the next era of responsive design. These updates include user-preference based media features, container queries, and media queries for new screen types, such as foldable screens.
So many familiar notes in this tale.

- Islands Architecture jasonformat.com
The general idea of an “Islands” architecture is deceptively simple: render HTML pages on the server, and inject placeholders or slots around highly dynamic regions. These placeholders/slots contain the server-rendered HTML output from their corresponding widget. They denote regions that can then be "hydrated" on the client into small self-contained widgets, reusing their server-rendered initial HTML.
Good name for it.

- Do the Brand First - By Paul Ford postlight.com
When you say “we’re doing a branding exercise but let’s start building the site,” you’re saying, “I don’t know. Make it somewhere between Medium and Genius.” Or: “We need something between TIME magazine and The Marshall Project. We can true it up with the new brand assets before we launch.” Or: “Etsy is good, but so is Amazon. It’ll all come down to colors and type anyway.” Or: “It should feel like J.P. Morgan or maybe Betterment. Whichever gets us there soonest. We’ll plug in the logo later.”
