I can see this being horribly confusing.
The caffs are the spaces of the everyday, of the ordinary, yet they distil extraordinary stories of immigration and ambition, faded hopes and fashions, of class and business; they embody the values of a different world in which corporations didn’t yet control consumption and places aimed at the working class could happily accommodate City boys and dustmen, gents and tramps. Yet if most of the caffs seem as busy as ever, how come they’re dying out?
That's quite a lot.

The WHATWG spec is the place to look for what’s new and evolving. The W3C spec, once it goes into Last Call, is the place to look for the official milestone that is HTML5. In practice, the two specs will be pretty much identical for quite a while yet. But the truth is that authors shouldn’t be looking at specs to decide what to use—look at what browsers support in order to decide if you should use a particular feature—look at the spec to understand how to use features of HTML5.

- johnmuhl/javascript-tools-tmbundle - GitHub github.com
I personally feel that until a developer is interested enough in learning about patterns to make the leap to invest in these, the majority of material they have accessible online doesn’t focus enough on how to apply design patterns to JavaScript or jQuery. That’s where having a free book of this nature comes in useful.
