Stephen Bayley’s opinion on the battle for Chelsea Barracks
“The fabulous absurdity of the media "debate” between Prince Charles and Richard Rogers is that each is a historical relic. The prince is a throwback to the 18th century and beyond, the architect is a suntanned survivor of the 20th. We are now in the 21st, a century with priorities of its own. Charles’s unreflective and ludicrous enthusiasm for anachronism in architecture has its equivalent in Rogers’ dogmatic and doctrinaire insistence on aesthetic conflict with metal and glass.“

Where this is all going is that the bigger and sandboxier games get, the more it is possible to play cat and mouse with the developers - to see if they have anticipated a particular response to stimuli, or whether unexpected actions can have a positive effect on gameplay - cheating without cheating, in effect.

Visual concepts developed as a response to repeat listening. I was then inspired to develop a new technique using expressions in After Effects. This technique allows me to create markers in the audio track which can influence pretty much any effect or property of the visuals.
